CAPTION: THE MERCY OF GOD.

TEXT: JOB 22:28-29.
PSALM 103: 1-7

MERCY IS COMPASSION THAT FOREBEARS PUNISHMENT EVEN WHEN JUSTICE DEMANDS SO. JUSTICE DEMANDS PUNISHMENT, WHILE MERCY DEMANDS FORBEARANCE.

ATTENTION:
•MERCY DEPENDS ON THE GRANTOR (GOD).
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and compassion on whom I will have compassion. Divine mercy is at God’s disposal. It is not guaranteed through human pedigree or by man’s earthly accomplishments.

•MERCY DOES NOT REQUIRE REASON
The philosophy and the common reasoning of man do not apply in the discharge of God’s mercy. No one questions God over whom He prefers to show mercy. He is God who is above all human reasonings and questions.

PREREQUISITES FOR GOD’S MERCY.

Note: God’s mercy can be provoked.

The mercy of God applies under the following premises:

1. ACKNOWLEDGING GOD ALMIGHTY AS GOD.

2. MAKING A DELIBERATE MOVE TO CALVARY. You must make peace with God. The Lord must be your Lord and saviour. It must be a conscious and decisive approach.

SURRENDER YOUR WILL TO GOD’S.

Until your decisions are in line with God’s will, you are not qualified for God’s mercy. You must, in all things, learn to live with the consciousness that life’s decisions are to be after God’s will, not man’s. God is faithful to prove His Almightiness in your weakest moments, when this is ensured.

A CONSISTENT PRAYER LIFE.
Prayer provokes Divine Mercy. A seeker of mercy must be a fervent and persistent seeker of God. (Luke 18:7).
Prayer is not a lazy man’s business as the world in their wisdom may opine but a commitment to God which abounds in every eternal release; Divine Mercy inclusive.

TRUSTING GOD FOR EVERYTHING.
Trusting God for all things commands the presence of God in all conditions. Hence, the Mercy of God. Total confidence in God provokes the bearing of God on any man’s lifeline. Some may trust in their wealth, doctors, belief systems, certificates or connections but total safety in life is found in God. Every other ground sinks.

LEARN TO HELP OTHERS
Compassion begets compassion. (Matthew 5:7). Showing mercy to others attracts the mercy of God. It qualifies you for divine mercy. What you give is what you receive. Possession of heart of pity equals receiving the hand of Divine Mercy at your frail moments.

NOTE: OUR GOD IS RICH IN MERCY.

In this time of pressure, peace bankruptcy and pandemic world over, may Divine Mercy be your shield on every side, even as we pursue, overtake and recover our lost grounds in Jesus Name, AMEN.
