EXCERPTS FROM THE PRIMATE’S HOMILY

TITLE: DIVINE HELP
TEXT: ISA. 41:10

The primate in his sermon remarked that the current state of things in the country and, specifically, Ogbaru area, especially at the sight of the flood with the attendant devastations so far is one that could make one ask some faith-threatening questions, which could even make some, especially the weak in faith, walk the path of the unjust to find out the reasons for the situation they find themselves in, through some fetish consultations and divinations.

His Grace, therefore, brought the word of God to the people, stating emphatically that the Lord has asked him to tell His people that they should not fear.

There may have been loss of properties, lives, means of livelihood which, as a result, instilled fear of the unknown and serious concerns in the hearts of many. The Lord keeps saying, ‘Fear not, I am with you, I will strengthen you, and I will uphold you with my right hand of righteousness’.

In his words, “Fear not, the good people of Ogbaru, the Lord is coming through for you”.

He further called on the all to walk by faith and not by sight. What is before us might be heavy and disheartening when weighed in our minds but faith in God enthrones God over the situation. Faith in God makes our troubles and concerns insignificant and spurs Him to bear on them mightily – culminating in miracles.

He stated, that the enemy of faith is fear while fear disappears once faith steps in. Both cannot work together.

What does this faith occasion?
It is absolute trust and dependence on God. It is a knowing and an unwavering belief that with God all things are possible. It is totally committing to God all our concerns with the assurance that he is in charge and will only cause thing to work in our favour – the good, the bad or the ugly.

Divine help is an assurance of His care arising from faith in Him. His care is the evidence of his presence. He stated that the greatest gift God has given His children is His Presence. He is our present help in times of trouble.

DIVINE HELP IS THEREFORE PREMISED ON THE FOLLOWING ASSURANCES:

1. Fear not – Isa. 41:10.
God is still in control.

2. Divine Presence – I am with you. – Vs 10

3. Divine Courage: His hand is coming for us. We need not be discouraged.

4. Divine Strength – The strength of the Lord will be our portion.

5. Divine help – He assure us of his help. He says, “I will help you”.

6. Divine Support – I will support you with my right hand of righteousness.

7. I will fight your battles Vs 12.

The primate prayed for the people of Ogbaru and called on everyone to strengthen their faith in God.

Glory be to God.

Other features of the event include:

•The arrival of the Primate.
• Formal welcoming of the Primate
•Dedication Proper.

His Lordship, The Rt. Rev’d Prosper A. Amah (JP), the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ogbaru calls on the Nigerian government at all levels to act fast on the flood issues bedevilling Ogbaru Community and her environs, as the current state of things have claimed the lives of many, placed the economic activities and means of livelihood of masses on a standstill while a great number have been rendered homeless.

Consequently, and in an attempt to alleviate the plight and burden of the people, an arm of the church, precisely the Women’s Ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Ogbaru, has denoted her facility to harbour, in the interim, a good number of the displaced persons around the area. A large number holding out, however.

While applauding the giant strides of the Women’s Ministry within his jurisdiction and Episcopacy, he appreciated the the extended hand of goodwill of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, ably led by the Primate, His Grace, The Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba for the great concern with the attendant promised financial assistance to the diocese.

He unequivocally further enjoined the government and other well meaning persons within and outside the state to go the path of honour and live up to the demands of the situation, while the affected masses repose much confidence in them with regard to putting the situation in check.

The needful needs be done as quick as possible for forestall both the already existing and the imminent dangers.

The ongoing 2022 Ladies/Girls Guild Conference of the Anglican Diocese of Ogbaru took a unique turn today as our dear lord Bishop, The Rt. Rev’d Prosper A. Amah and his wife, Mrs Uche C. Amah (Mama Ogbaru) who is also the president of the guild, graced the occasion in a grand style. Odekpe archdeaconry members, especially the good people of Bethel Ang. Church, Odekpe gave the duo and their entourage a warm welcome.

In course of the event, mama Ogbaru in her Presidential Address charged the ladies and girls to maintain the life of purity by keeping their lives and bodies in honour to God. She further stressed the need for them to engage their hands meaningfully and never be sources of sorrow to their families, church and the society.

Futhermore, the Bishop and spiritual father of the diocese encouraged all and sundry in his speech to be sensitive to the demands of God in our time and never be left out in the divine scheme. He straitly charged all to flow with God and not with the world as men and the world systems are bound to fail and to disappoint but he who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. In keeping with this, we shall be divinely preserved, provided for and positioned for eternal rewards.

The event culminated in exhibitions by the ladies and Girls of the diocese. Various creative and unique products were presented which were supervised by President of the Guild – Mama Ogbaru and the Bishop. The dumbfounding exhibits received episcopal applause and encouragement by the Bishop and his wife. The ecstasy raised in the spirits of the ladies/girls knew no bounds.

All in all, the event recorded a good turnout of the good people of Ogbaru. The workers of the diocese were equally present in their ranks and files.

Girls’ Guild….Show the light!

To God be The Glory.

Fresh Oil – September Edition

With The Rt. Rev’d Prosper A. Amah (Ministering).

Message Topic: Power to Deal with Evil Altars
Scripture: 1 Sam 7:7-11.

Message Excerpts:

There was war between the Philistines and Israel. When the children of Israel saw that the battle was fierce, they met Samuel and pleaded with him to pray for them. Samuel set up an altar unto the Lord. The altar of Samuel nullified the altar of the Philistines. And when Samuel had offered that sacrifice, thunder of God’s wrath struck on the camp of the Philistines and their camp was in disarray.

PRAYER STRATEGY
We must not cease to pray as Samuel did not cease to pray for the children of Israel. The battle turned to the favour of the Israelites and they discomfited the Philistines because Samuel did not cease to pray for the Israelites. Samuel groaned before the Lord. God gave the Israelites divine formula to discomfort the Philistines. God will give you divine formula against your enemy in Jesus Name. Amen

AWARENESS OF ALTERS Num 23:1ff
Balak hired Balaam to place a curse on the children of Israel. Balaam built seven altars and offered sacrifices to the Lord that he may curse the children of Israel. Satanic Altar is a place where:

  1. Demonic powers traffic (operate)
  2. Demonic powers pass judgement.

Mount Pisgah: There is a place where sacrifices are offered. The spirit behind the sacrifices of mount Pisgah is the spirit of near success syndrome.

MAINTANING LIFE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
If we must be able to gain victory over satanic altars, iniquity must not be found in us. Righteousness is what gave them strength against their enemies. The Moabites could do nothing against the Israelites as long as they had a right relationship with God. But the moment sin entered the camp of the Israelites they became vulnerable to attack. God punished them and 23,000 of them died.

A believer has the covering of God as long as he remains righteous. But the moment a believer begins to live in sin, the covering is taken away and he becomes vulnerable to attacks.

Victory over demonic influences and Edition..is sure for faithful children of God.

THEME: LET US PRAY.
VENUE: ST. ANDREW CHURCH, AKILI-OZIZOR
DATE: 12TH – 15TH MAY, 2022.

THE SERMON AT SYNOD THANKSGIVING SERVICE ||TITLE: THE MAN OF PRAYER – PSALM 109:1-4|| SUNDAY 15TH MAY, 2022.

The Diocesan, The Rt. Rev’d Prosper A. Amah, in his sermon during the synod thanksgiving service on Sunday called all and sundry to give serious attention to prayer. He posited that Jesus Christ while on earth stressed on the need and the significance of prayer.

He further reiterated that a Man of Prayer must;
•Know the Lord and His Word. Ps. 119:105
•Have a clean heart. Ps 24:4
•Know the agenda of the kingdom of God and be sensitive to God’s timing.
•Fear and love God.
•Be covenant child of God.

Recall, the theme of this year’s synod is “Let us Pray” taken from Ephesians chapter 6 verse 18.

Making reference to the Bible’s men of Faith, he cited David and Daniel, amongst others as Men of Prayer who birthed possibilities in their time. Daniel’s consecration and consistency in prayer necessitated his continual success, victory and relevance in his time in Babylon.

Hence, if the church must succeed in a time like this; such a time bedeviled by hardship, insecurity, political instability, bleak future for the younger generation and demonic attacks, she must yield to God completely and take the matter of prayer seriously.

He equally maintained the stance that anyone who prays should be careful in speech and be a good listener in order to receive answers from God.

Again that no one who prays, harboring bitterness in his heart (against God or any man), should expect blessings (answers) from God.

All in all, many souls were lifted while very many others were rededicated to God to ensure a true Godly living and effective prayers.

Glory be to God.
