BRIEF HISTORY OF THE KING’S AMBASSADORS SEMINARY, ATANI.

To the glory of God The King’s Ambassadors Seminary Atani is a School of distinction owned by the Anglican Diocese of Ogbaru situate at Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. The then Lord Bishop of the Diocese, Rt Rev’d Dr Samuel C. Ezeofor (JP) through the Diocesan Board approved the opening of the Seminary as a Training Ground / Institution for the boys from all the nook and cranny of the society.
The Seminary resumed full academic program on the 21st Sept, 2015 while forty nine (49) students who actually reported to School two days prior to the day (Sept. 19th, 2015). By this time the School had three Administrative Staff and nine (9) Teaching Staff. The Vice Principal Administration doubles also as a Teaching Staff while Ven. V.I. Igwebuike was the Administrative Head.
As the LORD would have it, the official naming of the School was performed by his Lordship The Rt Rev’d Dr Samuel C. Ezeofor (JP) the then Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of Ogbaru now the Diocesan Bishop of Aguata, on 8th of November, 2015. It was a gathering of the strong of the mighty of the Diocese and the society at large. The parents of the students were all in attendance.
The second Session of the students resumed in September, 2016 with more than a hundred students enrolled. On January 22, 2017, the Foundation Stone Laying of the School was done by the Lord Bishop and this as well witnessed a greater number of people of all works of life in attendance.
As the work in the Seminary progressed, The Primate of Nigeria, The Archbishop and the Metropolitan Church of Nigerian (Anglican Communion) His Grace The Most Rev’d Nicholas D. Okoh dedicated the Seminary Community on 11th March, 2017 as part from the activities marking the 10th Anniversary of the Diocese.
Rev’d Canon Ifeanyi Mgbemene succeeded the Pioneer Principal in the year 2017 and through him, tremendous achievements were recorded. He was succeeded by Rev’d Ndudirim Okechukwu as the third Principal of the School when he relocated to Aguata Diocese.
On the arrival of the present Proprietor and Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese The Rt. Rev’d Prosper Afamefuna and Mrs Uche Amah, who succeeded the Pioneer Bishop who was translated to Aguata Diocese Remarkable and Laudable developments have been noticed within the Seminary Community.
The Proprietor was consecrated as the Bishop of the Anglican Communion on the 3rd day of June, 2018 and was enthroned as the Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese on the 28th July, 2018. All glory to God.
The Seminary has so far recorded tremendous achievements both in academics, moral and sporting activities both within and without and to the praise of God is still soaring higher. The future of the School is bright and indeed will be glorious under the present administration headed by the Rev’d Peter Udenabor. It is and will keep flourishing under God’s care as the School Motto states since “God is with us and Christ is our peace”.
